I'm not sure I follow your reasoning here. Woody has influenced a ton of musicians. It was unfortunate that Wilco's presence was falsely advertised, but just the fact that they're not taking part in this tribute doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

Happy birthday! I look forward to seeing more of your lovely artwork (and perhaps you) at Millennium Park!

I had a ton of fun at both of these shows, but Sunday night was probably my favorite. Nels jumped off his stool during "Spiders" and wound up playing on his back for a minute. I loved hearing "Red-Eyed & Blue/I Got You," among many others. Richard Swift and Casey Foubert joined in for a really great rendition of "California Stars," with Casey taking a solo. Great fun all around tonight. Duluth, I'm preemptively jealous.

Best: It's too hard to choose, but to name two - the Val Air Ballroom in Des Moines, before they switched everything around, was pretty great. The Barrymore in Madison is one of my favorite places. Worst: The Eagles freakin' Ballroom

Just in case anybody missed this, the Iowa City presale began half an hour ago. I don't think there was much forewarning.

I'll bet Jeff doesn't have a Ratatouille birthday cake like my six-year-old nephew does today. (Happy birthday!)

Those pictures are wonderful for all sorts of reasons. Ruby is a complete doll - her outfit looks really comfy, too!

Four shows in SF? -
That's a nifty new exclamation to try out. I think I'll try using it instead of "holy crap," etc. I'm happy to see that Too Far Apart is getting some regular play, and hooray for Bob Dylan's Beard. Did anyone catch the Minus 5 later on?

Seriously? That's not how I remember it at all. Maybe there was one guy talking next to the taper.

Discussion of this show, including the full set list, is going on in the After the Show forum: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=30493

The past few presales have not required a password. You will need a MusicToday account to purchase any tickets through them. http://wilcotickets.musictoday.com/Wilco1/calendar.aspx Hopefully once we get a FAQ together for the site, people will be able to consult it for presale questions. Oh, and just to get this one out of the way - Wilcoworld gets approximately 10% of a venue's tickets to sell through the presale. Presale tickets have been known to go fast. Do not be surprised if this happens. There will be many more tickets available during the general onsales.

Wow, I hope that little Canadian boy who was in Vermont was at this show to see "his" request of Red Eyed & Blue > I Got You played! "Too Far Apart" - wow. Jeff played that solo in Madison ... whenever that show was ... but how awesome to see the full band do it. Sounds like a great show, and I look forward to more reports. I can't wait for L.A. -
Ah, Glenn and Jeff played there a couple of years ago. (Last year?) They played in the ballroom, though - I think this is in a different space.

Wow, Allison. I would love to hear more about your travels. And what is up with Ireland and rainbows? I saw two while I was there, and that was just a 5-day trip. -
I both love and hate this thread, because my To Read list is already so long ... but so many of the books people here are reading look good. I'm reading I've been on this one for a week or so, and hope I can find time to finish it tonight. You know how sometimes you'll read a book and think it's interesting, and when you're done you're glad you read it, but at the same time you didn't really enjoy the act of reading it? This definitely is not one of those books. I'm really liking it, and it's reminding me of my youthful mini-obsession with the Civil War.

I've never seen this show, so maybe there's something I'm missing here - but maybe it's not a great idea to have what appears to be a giant spoiler as the subject of this thread? Is it possible some people don't want to know? Or is the "gone" just a reference to the cancellation?

Have a great birthday!

It was a lot of fun, and very hot. Chris Mills and Blue Mountain were good too. So was the meatball sandwich.

Califonia? (Sorry.) Everybody's Mother Volume 2 would be great. If they do it, I hope there's awesome packaging like Volume 1! -
Happy birthday! Perhaps we'll meet again at the 9:30 Club sometime.

So many birthdays around here - November must be a good month. Have a great day! -
You peeps that have seen Wilco a bunch of times...

I agree with both Scalzunfield and Heidi. The last show was great, but they definitely picked and chose the right tracks for a live CD from that 4-night run. I think the collection is very representative of good Wilco shows. Here's one of my favorite quotes ever from Wayne Coyne - I think it was in an issue of Paste magazine in 2006. He puts into words better than I've ever managed it why nights like that last one at the Vic are among my favorites:
