  1. This! I especially like how "You Are My Face" quite often follows BBN in their shows.
  2. We flew down to San Francisco for the Drive-By Truckers show @ the Fillmore Saturday night. Then saw Braden's perfect game the next day. It was the proverbial icing on the cake. My husband, a baseball nut, could not believe our luck. After all, had the Giants not been on the road, we probably would have been sitting at AT&T Park that afternoon rather than at Oakland Coliseum. On deck: Wilco @ Snowmass, CO followed by the the Reds vs.the Rockies Labour Day weekend!
  3. (also, the way Jeff sings "fundamental") Ken's drums in "Sunken Treasure" especially when they first crash in: "but there IS no sunken treasure..." During "Hate It Here" live, the keys that sound like a phone: "I'll check the phone..." Slightly off-topic, OK way off-topic: in "Blasting Fonda" the lines "in days of olden, silence was golden" sound so familiar. Can't put my finger on it. A little help?
  4. When Jeff joins in on the last set of "do, do-do-do, do-do-do's" in "Hotel Arizona" (just before, "Hello, can you hear me?")
  5. The company I work for formed an "Olympic Committee" that would meet periodically to discuss crap like staffing and transportation leading up to the Games. One of my best friends was asked to be on the committee. During one meeting someone non-chalantly mentioned that "some good bands" would be playing at the LiveCity venues. My friend jumped in with, "Yeah, like Wilco!" Everyone in the room turned and looked at her and said "Who?" Sigh.
  6. This! "I'm Always in Love" is easily in my top 20. "Monday" is nowhere close.
  7. "Embarrassed joy." What a great description. I love this anecdote. Thanks for sharing.
  8. I flew into Hamilton on the 12th to see Blue Rodeo @ Hamilton Place (where Wilco had played a few weeks earlier.) The online fan club was presenting a 25th anniversary "album" after the show and I was lucky enough to go backstage to witness the presentation. Met Jim who joked whether it was OK for me to be wearing a Wilco shirt to a BR concert (I was wearing the one in my avatar.) I told him his band was in good company, knowing that he's a Wilco fan (and even had Jeff and Jay record a song on his first solo record.) Really wanted to meet Bob Egan, however, he wasn't around (either were Keel
  9. Can't buy the CD up here until the 30th. So I caved and bot it from iTunes because I have to have it - at least on my iPod - today!
  10. I'm actually flying to Hamilton Friday to see a Blue Rodeo show. I could always fly back to Vancouver "Via Chicago" (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
  11. A colleague and I just had this exact same conversation. Suddenly Chicago doesn't seem so far away from Vancouver. I can't believe I just checked out flights. Not that it would even be remotely possible to attend...
  12. Well, in honour of the Quebec City and Montreal shows, the husband and I just shared a plate of poutine at Place de la Francophonie, the French Cdn Olympic site. Real cheese curds! Tonight, it's back to LiveCity Yaletown, this time to see Blue Rodeo featuring former Wilco member Bob Egan!
  13. As much as the hub and I loved the Victoria show, we agreed that last night's show in the Hammer was, incredibly, even better. Great sound and outstanding setlist. "Poor Places", "Reservations" and "Box Full of Letters" were highlights. Loved it when one of the white stage lights hit John from the side and back casting a huge shadow of him and his bass on the left wall of the theatre. Jeff must have been feeling warm and fuzzy during the "Jesus, Etc." singalong as he momentarily assumed the fetal position at the front of the stage before getting up to join us for the last part! The "Hummi
  14. "Space City" by the Drive-By Truckers Makes me cry. If I'm at the gym, also makes me hyperventilate.
  15. Thanks for the great photos, SeattleC. The purple Jeff is very cool. Very X-Files. Lodestar, glad that your decision to delay your move to catch the show worked out. Nice that you were able to meet the guys.
  16. I'm not entirely sure about that. In Victoria Friday night the fans gave the band a standing ovation as they hit the stage and I think they really appreciated that.
  17. Thanks for posting the setlist, bbop. LiveCity was a great festival venue, lots of Olympic spirit despite the weather and a nice contrast to Friday night's old theatre show in Victoria. The JumboTrons saved the day (night) as at 5'5", I couldn't see much of the guys on stage. My only complaint: the cameras weren't trained on Jeff during the Hummingbird dance, I have to assume he did it! I'm not sure "Broken Arrow" would have gone over that well. I think the crowd was equally split between bigtime Wilco fans and Olympic-free-concert partiers. "Jesus, Etc" wasn't a singalong, although Je
  18. Our closest show is San Fran in May so I think we'll make a weekend of it. MLB will be in full swing (no pun intended) so the husband will be happy. The Giants will be out-of-town that weekend, however, the Athletics will be hosting the Devil Rays!
  19. Unbelievably boring morning at work today. Then one of my colleagues who is a loudtalker and never closes his office door when he's on the phone (which is all day) says to one of his clients, "you can come by any time you want." I think this should count.
  20. Rich Terfry on CBC Radio Two Drive plays Wilco quite a bit. Always the same song, though. For the longest time it was "You and I." More recently it's been "Sonny Feeling." See you in the Hammer!
  21. This. At least today. This afternoon.
  22. Great news to kick off the New Year for you guys on the East Coast. Happy for you! Cheers.
  23. I bot these thru FrontGate and have opted for other seats thru TicketMaster (yeah, incredibly).
  24. "Dash 7" at the DeSerres store on Broadway Saturday afternoon. So sweet.
