  1. That movie creeped me out as a kid. Unnerving. That and Soylent Green.
  2. I know, I know. My Dad was a lifelong Cardinals fan, so I have a soft spot for them. Last year, when he was in the final stages of dementia, we got him a CD of the radio call of the 7th game of the '64 World Series, called by Phil Rizzuto and Joe Garagiola. He listened to it over and over. He'd ask to put the ballgame on, and we'd put that on, and all was well. So I guess I can get behind the Cardinals.
  3. I am a big fan of the NL Central. There is an old-schoolness in general with the teams in that division, and the teams have been playing some good baseball the past few years. I can get behind teams like the Pirates, Reds, Cubs, and Cardinals, especially when they are fun to watch.
  4. Fantastic. This will blow my teenage daughters' minds.
  5. Magnetized makes great sense! Just do not change your avatar anytime soon. Then you'll really throw me.
  6. 8/12 - Mac DeMarco 8/15 - Trombone Shorty 8/20 - Counting Crows 8/29 - Lake Street Dive 9/18 - Of Montreal
  7. Still can't get enough of Cold Slope/King of You. And others, like Taste the Ceiling and Where Do I Begin, are growing on me.
  8. then retrieved a 4-pack of Ommegang Fleur de Houblon Summer Ale (conveniently put on sale from $8.99 to $4.99 the day before), That right there makes it a great night.
  9. I was with two kids who loved the beach ball launch!
  10. I suppose this is old news for many people in the music business, but for a consumer of music like me, this is pretty insightful.
  11. Just got back from a blistering Desaperacidos show.
  12. I thought the fur-lined hoodie was Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend"..... but I could be wrong.
  13. Curious to hear how the crowd responded to the Star Wars start. Anyone?
  14. This was fun to read. It gave me some insight into some events/acts that I did not see, and makes me realize that there is whole lot going on at SS. And that there is a whole lot of good beer available.
  15. I wish that meant something, but unless it is "Pop Record of the Summer" or "New Album by Taylor Swift", not many folks are going to hear it/buy it.
  16. It seems like there were more trades, and more big time players involved, this year than in past years.
  17. I have observed this phenomena at Wilco shows before. You can almost see light bulbs go on for people during the solo, especially at the end when the three guitars hit that crescendo. I try to make a point to scan the crowd during that part to see people's reactions. That is some classic Wilco shit. And Nels makes it so.
