calvino
Just spent yesterday with my brother and sister-in-law - both huge fans. She is going to take it very hard. For the past 25 years, every time he passes through, they go see him. It was always a huge event for her. Sad news, indeed.
kidsmoke
Heartbreaking on an already heartbreaking day. Rest in peace, Tom.

NoJ
I'll be listening to "Pack Up the Plantation" later today. RIP TP. First time I saw him was in 86 on tour with Dylan. He did an acoustic version of "The Waiting" and "Breakdown" that was fantastic.
nalafej
So many good songs. He leaves quite the catalog behind for us to enjoy.
John Smith
The other day I was having a discussion about how many of the classic rockers are getting up there in age and there’s not going to be a lot of opportunity to see them in the future and that any of them could be gone at any time. But we were talking the stones, Clapton, Dylan, McCartney, and others of that era, People like Tom Petty did not even enter the conversation because he’s so much younger than some of them. Guess we were wrong.

Winston Legthigh
One way to think about Tom Petty today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LX2ncOG6Sg0I wonder why they played it in that key - seems to be too high for Jeff to sing comfortably, and it's a higher key than the original...
