I am going to cut the cable cord within the next 30 days. Here in the NYC area, Playstation Vue carries YES network, ESPN, FS1, MLB network, NFL network, and local broadcast stations of ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. As a Yankees/Jets fan, almost every game is covered there. I’m just curious as to what ultimately made you go with Hulu instead? Non-sports related reasons are of interest to me too!

“Not a train wreck” doesn’t make it a good idea. I love Neil and I love Lindsey, but would greatly prefer to see Neil playing and singing his own songs! I find it difficult to imagine Neil Finn and Stevie Nicks getting along.

Excellent! Can’t wait to read it. Btw, none of those preorder links lead to anything, but there is a working link on amazon.
-
Oh no, Craig! I’m so sorry! Any chance you can go back to the old one?
-
Yes, I heard Feed the Tree on the radio the other day and it sounded just as great now as it did then.

Saw the Posies tonight, who did a breathtaking unmiked version of Big Star’s Thirteen. That in and of itself was worth the price of the ticket.

*laughs* Interesting theory, Cowboy Poet. I agree with you on most points. The Crane Wife is sublime, and one of my favorite albums by anyone, Hazards of Love was really dreadful, wasn’t it? I hated that album so much that I did not even bother listening to The King Is Dead for a long time after it was released. That, of course, was a mistake. I didn’t listen to What a Terrible World that much either, but what I remember of it is good. Perhaps it was hit or miss. Didn’t like the new song much today, Love the Ben Franklin song though!!

Wow, shocking. So sorry to hear. She had a truly lovely voice..

Agreed! Two great games. I was yelling out loud at the end of both games. Watching Drew Brees move his team down the field so easily in that final minute and a half was impressive. I was sure NO had it wrapped up. But then WOW! I can’t imagine how awful the Saints felt after coming all the way back from 17-0 to have it snatched away in the final seconds.

I love the crystal foxes! I got choked up as the end credits rolled, realizing that Han, Luke, and Leia are all gone now.
-
I love the Moody Blues and saw them many times back in the day. Seventh Sojourn is my favorite, but there are songs I love on all of their albums. I saw Justin Hayward solo a couple of years ago and it was just as good as seeing the Moodies!

Wow, another brutal loss. He was only 62. http://variety.com/2017/music/news/pat-dinizio-smithereens-dead-1202638793/ Meet the Smithereens always makes me smile. So many of my favorite artists have died that it is starting to become painful for me to put my music on shuffle.

Via Chicago.. It wasn’t that agonizing!

Magnetized and kidsmoke, I totally agree with both of you. We need people like Al Franken in the Senate. No one is perfect, and I think for him in particular, the good greatly outweighs the bad. WHY IS NO ONE GOING AFTER TRUMP FOR HIS BEHAVIOR????
-
I agree, and do not understand why this is not happening!!!!??

Having only ever seen Daniel Craig as James Bond before seeing this, I could not stop laughing out loud! I enjoyed this a lot too.

Here is an article from a little over a year ago which seems to indicate record companies are losing interest in providing download cards because few people redeem them, and they prefer the vinyl buyers use a streaming service if they want to hear a digital version: http://www.vinylmeplease.com/magazine/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-those-download-cards-in-vinyl-records/

Maybe it is not so standard any more. I know the Neil Finn album released a couple of months ago also did not include downloads with the vinyl. I can’t offer any additional evidence as I stopped buying vinyl a few years ago.

I know the Giants are terrible this year, and perhaps it is time for Eli Manning to retire, but to bench him so Geno Smith can take his position is an incredible slap in the face to him. Geno Smith is perhaps one of the worst quarterbacks I have ever seen. This is actually a fun year to be a Jets fan, because we can legitimately laugh at the Giants for a change.

Awesome story! Thanks for sharing.

I was shocked to read about that last night. I was at his last ever show, apparently.

If I had to choose between first six and last six, it would definitely be first six, although I don't like Document and Green all that much. I do love Out of Time, but after that, I only really like several songs from the albums and never truly embraced any of them. I can honestly say I hate Monster. (p.s, Chronic Town EP needs to be on that first list!)

Sparsely attended was nice for a change, although I felt bad for Howe that there were so few people there. And at least one of those attending was a Giant Sand member, so someone he knows well. I liked the venue a lot and it was pretty painfree to get there. I will definitely return there. Enjoy the Paris concert tonight. Many, many years ago, a friend of mine would talk about Giant Sand all the time, but he never played any of the music for me. I hate to admit that I discovered Howe by accident after getting into Calexico years ago and then working backwards. I used to like both eq

Howe was AWESOME!! Absolutely loved him. There were only 20 people there! (And chairs!). I seriously hope those Monty Hall shows are simulcast on WFMU or it was really not worth his time to play there.
